What about RF interference? - Our systems operate at 5.8GHz point to point. Interference is not an issue. Even so, you'd have know what was going on - We use a MySQL based management interface that manages the RF network. What about network management? - SNMP GUI . We'll know if there's a problem before the users do. How do you secure the network? - Using hardware MAC addresses. If we don't know you, you cannot connect. QoS? - Network packets are all tagged for QoS so priority is always given to the most important traffic. What is the usable range? - Up to 8Km per hop. Latency is 1ms per hop. How do you access the Internet? - Terrestrial NLS link or DSL depending upon the site location. Surely you do a site survey ? - Yes. We use LIDAR data and very powerful site survey software. How does the failover work? - If the link or DSL fails the system switches to PSTN. If that fails it switches to GSM. What about power fail? - The network hubs are UPS protected. We will shortly be offering wind and solar power support. You have antenna masts? - Yes. We have masts from 7m to 35m and vehicle mounted masts for site surveys . How is the network accessed? - RJ45 for wired connections and 803.11b/g wireless. We'll be offering 11n soon. CCTV? - Our codecs carry high quality video and telemetry to various standards. We record to portable hard drives. Audio? - Various resolutions depending upon application. Video? - Broadcast quality, low latency. H264 codecs provide glitch-free transmission. No wires at all? - Actually, If we needed to connect over a few metres and wireless would mean more work we'd still use a wire. I still have more questions - OK. Chris@cba.uk.com +44 (0)207 993 0390 |
